Capitol 10K Run Proposal
By Jean Hailey
Photography By Wynn, Nevada, Missouri

Jordan and William met their first day of law school orientation at SMU, immediately became friends, survived law school and the Bar Exam, then decided that if they could make it through all that, they could make it through anything.

They both enjoy running, golf, tennis, and traveling, so they consequently signed up to run in the Capitol 10K in March of 2007. Will, being a nice guy, ran beside Jordan the whole distance, even though she was a much slower runner. After finishing the race, the two runners walked back to Jordan’s house. Along the way, Will stopped and got down on one knee and proposed with a gorgeous ring that had been tied to his running shorts through the entire race! “Thank goodness he didn’t lose it!” laughs Jordan. She immediately said, “yes” and they spent the afternoon telling their family and friends the great news.

Jordan, along with her mother’s very creative eye, planned the entire wedding. Her mom created their wedding candy bar, wedding favors, wedding wands with ribbons, and detailed decorating touches. After months, weeks and days of planning the two had accomplished everything that Jordan could ever hope for in a wedding.

Jordan and Will were married at Tarrytown United Methodist Church, in an elegant, and touching ceremony. Reverend Ron Campbell and Reverend James Carter officiated their ceremony. Reverend Carter married Will’s parents almost 30 years ago as well. During the ring exchange, the guests and wedding party had a good laugh when one of the groomsmen, one of Will’s brothers, was asked for the ring, and had no idea where it was. With a look of shock, he shook his head and put his open hands out, and all burst into laughter. The Matron of Honor, Katie, had kept the ring for safe keeping.

The reception was held at Westwood Country Club. The happy newlyweds arrived at the reception in a vintage white Bentley. About 260 guests, all of who were having a good time dancing to Alter Ego and enjoying the wonderful food catered by Westwood, greeted them. Simon Lee Bakery created the wedding cake, a five tier Italian cream cake, and groom’s cake, a chocolate 3D cowboy boot. “They were amazing! “The cakes received the most compliments.” Judy at Simon Lee is amazing!” said Jordan. The reception also had an extensive candy bar with glass jars full of white, green, and pink candies. Guests were encouraged to eat candy throughout the night and to take some home in a special gift box they could fill with the candy of their choosing. The candy bar was a big hit among the young guests and the adults. The band, Alter Ego, played classic and fun music throughout the evening. Guests danced the entire evening.

Will and Jordan spent their wedding night at The Four Seasons Hotel in downtown Austin, and onto Maui at Kapalua Village, in Hawaii. The newlywed runners have moved into a new home and have been happily married for over six months.
